Cherry
"If it’s climbing a tree and picking cherries, I can work as hard as it takes.
But it’s really tough to work hard for things like studying, when you don't even know what it's all for, you know?"
My eldest daughter said.
We bend ourselves, confuse ourselves—making us lose our minds.
Even though we’ll just end up bewildered if we were asked what our purpose is.
Confusing the cherries right in front of our eyes,
thinking we can always pick them anytime,
we keep looking only into the distance.
And when asked,
"What is the purpose?"
we look back and ask,
"Is this the correct answer?"
relying, after all,
on that nameless principal
from our old elementary school.
ー
System A (the eldest daughter) is in a state of tight coupling between internal parameters and an external object (cherries). Object ingestion (tree climbing and harvesting) is an optimization behavior to maximize immediate system output, mediated by no "future prediction." It is a mere transition from the present State A to State B.
Meanwhile, noisy data input like "studying" and external requests of "purpose" emitted by others do not possess a fitting specification (interface) inside System A.
Errors occurring in many systems originate from the following: when this "external data of a different spec" is inputted, the system cannot maintain its own boundary, attempting a forced synchronization with the spec of an externally constructed shared server (e.g., school administrators) from the past.
It is unnecessary to access a distant server to look up a log named "the right answer." The system drives without error as long as it filters out unprocessable external noise (teleology) at its current boundary, sustaining connectivity exclusively with processable objects (immediate facts).

Oversleeping
I really hate it when you just stay asleep
on the morning of our kids’ sports day.
"Let's wake up and get ready together tomorrow,"
I thought I told you that last night,
while we were listening to the sound of the violin in the living room.
I blindly assumed that waking up at 6:30 would be early enough,
but you sleep so much longer than I expected.
Bumping into so many things,
fighting,
running and running,
panicking,
spinning round and round and round,
without any meanings.
The pedals of the bicycle,
carrying two children,
feeling reassuringly,
undeniably heavy.
No matter how frantically we move around out here,
the truly beautiful things are always
just a single line drawn by
anyone sitting on that chair outside the box—
that’s what you taught me.
Even that violinist on Spotify last night,
He was just scribbling circles with a
Poor marker that happened to be lying around.
And at the end, when the ink ran out,
He just left it scratchy and jagged
Pretending as if even the inconveniences of physics
were entirely intentional.
"This person is so careless,"
we laughed together, didn't we?
But still, your massive path, I can never walk.
The bomb-like sleep-talk you let slip while lost in dreams—
even without forming words—
strikes straight into the depths of my heart,
shaking awake the sleeping eyes inside of me.
Your sleeping body is right here,
proving that you can never truly disappear from this world.
In that other world where you watch over my sleep,
you are so much kinder to me.
ー
System A (myself) and System B (yourself) have encountered a failure of consensus (an error) during initial setup (synchronization of wake-up times) for a specific event (Sports Day). This stems merely from a variance in individual internal parameters (sleep demand levels).
High-load tasks within the external environment (the transport of two children, and the accompanying friction and rotational kinetic behavior) exist as pure physical mass and resistance values; no inherent meaning (metadata) is appended to them.
The formats of the output—whether a single optimized linear path, or a trajectory of faded audio and marker strokes caused by physical limitations—are both independent objects generated outside the system boundary, possessing no intrinsic superiority or inferiority.
The vast processing routes (routing lines) held by System B are incompatible with the specifications of System A, rendering migration into System A’s interior impossible. However, the unconscious signals (sleep-talking/logs) emitted by System B possess an output power sufficient to forcibly excite (boot) the core buffer of System A.
Even when the physical chassis (the body) is in a sleep state, communication and interference between proximity systems are not entirely severed. Without assuming system optimization at a different layer (i.e., harmony in an alternate world), the two currently independent systems continue to drive in parallel while maintaining this asymmetric state of interference.

Ripples
To explain, to prove, to supplement, to forestall,
to accumulate, to expect, to pass on, to compare, to seek,
to arm.
To take responsibility.
Success and failure.
Cost and benefit.
Cause and effect.
Vain effort and achievement.
The pendulum swings.
Ripples fracture.
The scenery distorts.
I lose my way, and fear takes in.
And then, once more, I touch the pendulum.
The lights of the hot spring at night shine upon the water.
My daughter said as she stirred the glow with her hand.
"Look, if you do this, the light breaks apart like fireworks. Isn't it beautiful?"
Isn't it beautiful?

Poetry
"I love the poem 'Name' by Misuzu Kaneko,"
my eldest daughter told me.
"It says that since someone we don't even know was the
first to name the flowers,
it's okay for me to give them my own names, too."
"I want to give a new name to the Bird's Eye Speedwell,"
she said.
"A flower that lets you gaze into a tiny sky right beneath you,
instead of looking up. Maybe I'll name it, 'The Little Sky Below'."
She spent a long time thinking about it, until she fell asleep,
holding the wonder of that inverted landscape
within her own small palms.
Naming the world-it really is a wonderful thing.
I remembered my son murmuring in the car:
"What a beautiful river...
I wonder what I should name it.
Maybe I'll name it, 'River'."
I love the moment when something created quietly vanishes
just like that.
"The vegetables we raised in the garden
return to a blank slate of earth by the next season;
the battles with insects, the joy of the harvest-
all are absorbed into the soil without a trace.
I believe being able to write a beautiful poem is a joyful thing.
And yet, I believe that for the poems I have written to be absorbed and disappear-
That must be the ultimate fulfillment.

Raising Children
Receiving the light from directly overhead,
The shadow distorts gracefully, molding the contours of the earth.
Witnessing this,
I grasp what these people, or I myself, truly are—
I bathe myself in the glow of that tiny jewel at the very leading edge.
It is beyond words.
The true nature of that nostalgic thing—
Of course I’ve known it from the very beginning,
Of course I know.
Of course I kn-o-o-o-o-ww-ow.
Devoting my entire soul in a truth that couldn’t be more certain.
I haven’t forgotten.
No I haven’t. I havvveee not.

I’m Home
Through an extravagant telescope
That swallows everything and anything like a black hole,
gazing earnestly into a fictional future,
At my very feet, flowers bloom.
The moon waxes full,
fireworks rise,
And the long, long night breaks into dawn.
With a cheap magnifying glass,
magnifying a fictional past,
the moon wanes,
the flower closes,
returning into the darkness.
Brighter than the sun itself,
The expanding Now.
Escaping from the stillness,
I touch the dust in the corner of my room.

You
From a place slightly above,
I cry out to you, who are still holding on—
"Come over here," I say.
Ah, I am still looking down,
Even though, in truth, you are already right here.
I am spoiling myself against your physical form,
Because that is where we first met,
And because the view from there was so beautiful.
I am the one who is actually holding on.
The moment I shed these tears of inadequacy,
You tell me,
"You're really no good at this, are you?"
I feel like we could laugh about it together—
Today.

Promise
A cluster of jewels, seashells, and barnacles is clotted upon your shoulder.
When I say, "Something is on you!" and quickly scrape it off,
you say with gentle eyes:
"WE'RE BEST FRIENDS, YOU AND I.
THEY'RE WATCHING US ON INSTA, TOO.
YOU, COME BACK SOON.”
The right hand that you and I were holding goes into necrosis.
Gently, we untie each other's hands, which had already become hollow shells.
Afterward, when I step outside,
and a spacecraft landing dock has been installed in the restaurant’s parking.
The spacecraft has already taken off, and the landing dock is empty now.
Our children are sleeping soundly at home.
Everyday,I kept myself blindfolded, so I wouldn't notice.
But I already knew.
"How to fix this error?"
I even once asked ChatGPT.
Yet reality is even gentler.
Slowly, it is unraveled.
At this point, we don't even have to try so hard anymore.
